I’ve always been effected by many foods and I’ve ignored the consequences.
Over Christmas my gut laid down the law with me and demanded I eat better.
So I did.
In complete agony, I began the journey I’m on now.
I have not had the following foods for one month so far
– soft drink (or any carbonated drinks)
– fried foods
– nuts including peanut butter and Nutella
– deli cold meats
– vegetable oil
– I’ve attempted to eliminate gluten completely, each time I’ve had a little gluten I have regretted it
Instead of coffee… I’ve had water or herbal tea
In baking, I’ve replaced eggs with 1/4 cup of apple sauce for each egg and unsweetened coconut milk instead of milk.
Soft drinks have been replaced with water or coconut water
Butter has been replaced with nuttelex
Chocolate has been replaced with 70% cocoa Lindt
I have had tuna in replacement of salami and ham
Fried foods have been replaced with grilled, baked or raw.
When I feel like a carb I have quinoa rice cakes, starchy vegetables, spelt pasta or gluten free pasta.
As much as I miss custard and cake, coffee and dairy milk chocolate… I’m not suffering with pain I normally would.
I’ll be seeing a dietician soon to make sure I’m not overlooking anything.
I want to make sure I’m getting enough nutrients from the food choices and substitutes that I am consuming.
